Course Description
A.P. Biology is the equivalent of a college-level Biology I course. This is a challenging course designed to 1) present an in depth, college level study of the Biological Sciences, 2) help students develop college level critical thinking skills and study habits, and 3) help students develop a better understanding, and respect for, the living world around them, and 4) help prepare you for the comprehensive AP Biology Exam given in May, so that you may score a 3 or above, and earn college credits for this year of study and hard work. The A.P. Biology exam covers 3 major areas: molecules and cells, heredity and evolution, and organisms and populations. These are the main topics we will study in this class.

As an advanced placement student you are expected to be able to work at a faster pace, one similar to a college course. Students are expected to perform at a college level on all work, and should expect that all work, quizzes and tests will be at a college level. In this course it is vital that you understand the information, rather than just being able to memorize it and spit it back out. A.P. Biology will require higher thinking and we will practice this through essay questions, group discussions, labs, etc.; all of which will help prepare you for the A.P. exam if you decide to take it. I am confident that each of you can succeed in this class if you have the desire and are willing to work hard.
